History of Acorn Stairlifts
Acorn Stair Lifts was formed in 1992 and the business started by buying, reconditioning and reselling stair lifts, as well as buying in new lifts from other manufacturers. Within a very short space of time, demand outstripped supply and other supply options had to be taken to maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service.
Design an All New Stairlift
The obvious choice was to begin design and manufacture of Acorn's own stair lift. The Acorn Superglide Stair Lift was born, soon to become a market leader, and to this day remains at the forefront of stair lift technology.
The design of the new stairlift was consciously focused on safety, simplicity, ease of installation and simple maintenance. This ultimately 'designed out' many of the shortcomings Acorn had experienced with stairlifts from other manufacturers, while including all the best stairlift features to make our product the best!
Innovative Technology
The Acorn stair lift benefits from contemporary design and the very latest innovation in direct current (DC) battery power. This was chosen due to the inherent advantages of safety, smooth power delivery and the ability to operate normally during a mains power failure.
Acorn pioneered the use of battery power and all other stairlift manufacturers followed this lead and now offer a battery powered (DC) product, or have battery powered appliances under development. Such are the advantages of this technology.
Acorn is the now the largest supplier of stair lifts direct to the customer. Acorn currently manufactures in excess of 30,000 new stair lifts every year and has hundreds thousands of customers globally.
